Vitamins for Hair Loss, Who Would Have Thought?

Hair loss has many causes. And this is good news. Now wipe that smirk off your face. It’s good news because the more causes there are the more ways there are to treat it.

And vitamins for hair loss may just be the answer you need. Especially since one of the chief causes of hair loss is vitamin deficiencies.

Some common ones are:
  • Vitamin C
  • Zinc
  • Vitamin E
  • Magnesium
  • Folic acid
  • Niacin
  • Biotin
  • Vitamin B6
Fortunately, there are tons more vitamins that are effective in hair loss prevention and restoration. B-Vitamins, in particular Vitamin B6, have restorative properties. That simply means that when you don’t get enough of Vitamin B^, you may lose your hair, but when you increase your intake of Vitamin B6, your hair grows back.

And Vitamin C helps your body to absorb more iron. This is important because an iron deficiency is a chief reason a person may lose his or her hair. So be sure to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables—and don’t forget the orange juice!

These are just a couple of examples of the impact vitamins have on hair loss prevention and restoration. Remember how your mom was always nagging you to stop eating junk food and eat more meats and fruits and vegetables? Well, heck, turns out that she was right—particularly if you are trying to keep your hair or restore your hair growth.

Before you run down to the corner drugstore and buy out the vitamin shelves, though, do some research first on which vitamins are essential to hair growth and which ones stimulate hair growth. It’s also a good idea to talk to your doctor and get his or her advice.

Because you want to choose the vitamins that will get you the hair loss prevention results you wat. Not waste your money on ones that are good for, say, fertility. Not in this case, anyway.

And remember that too many vitamins can also be harmful. For instance, taking heavy dosages of Vitamin A over a long period of time can actually cause you to lose your hair. Oh, no, say it isn’t true? Well, it is, but don’t freak out if this is what caused your hair loss. Cutting back to a normal intake should take care of the hair loss problem and allow your hair to grow back.

So remember, using vitamins in hair loss prevention can be very effective, but use with caution. Always do your homework (Mom was right again) and thoroughly research any you might want to try. Things you want to know are:
  • The proper dosages for hair loss prevention or restoration
  • Side effects
  • Drug interactions
  • Length of time needed to see results
  • Whether natural or synthetic ones are recommended
And, again, talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. After all, that’s what he or she’s there for!
